Aggregate Hauling Built for Base and Rock
Aggregate is what B&D Transportation was built on. Since 2005 we have hauled gravel, crushed rock, sand and aggregate base for paving and grading contractors across Southern California — and for aggregate producers including Vulcan Materials Company.
We pick up at the quarry, plant or yard you buy from and deliver to the pad, the street section or the trench. Bottom dumps lay base in windrows for the grader; super dumps and super tags carry a full legal load in a single unit; super 10s fit the sites the bigger trucks can’t.
Base and rock are heavy, so trucks reach their legal weight long before the box is full. Running the right axle configuration is what lets each truck carry the most tons per trip — and fewer trips is a lower hauling bill.
- Aggregate base — Class 2 base, crushed aggregate base (CAB) and crushed miscellaneous base (CMB).
- Gravel and crushed rock for drainage, pads and backfill.
- Sand for bedding, backfill and concrete work.
- Windrow delivery from bottom dumps, ready for the motor grader.

Class 2 Base vs. Crushed Miscellaneous Base
Both are compacted under pavement and slabs, but they come from different sources. Class 2 base (crushed aggregate base) is made from crushed virgin rock. Crushed miscellaneous base (CMB) is produced from recycled concrete, asphalt and rock. Your project specifications decide which one is allowed; we haul either from the supplier you choose.
Bottom Dumps for Base
On large pads and road sections, bottom dump trucks are the fastest way to place base: the trailer opens its gates while rolling and lays the material in a windrow the grader can spread right away. On tighter jobs we send super dumps or super 10s that end-dump where you need the material. Compare them in our dump truck sizes guide.
Aggregate Hauling FAQ
What is aggregate base?
Aggregate base is a graded mix of crushed rock and fines that is compacted under asphalt, concrete and building slabs to support them. Class 2 base and crushed miscellaneous base (CMB) are the most common types in Southern California.
Can you deliver base in a windrow?
Yes. Our bottom dump trucks unload while moving and lay base in a windrow so the grader can spread it immediately.
Do you sell gravel or base?
We are a hauler, not a supplier. You buy the material from the quarry, plant or yard of your choice, and we haul it to your job site.
How many tons of base can one truck carry?
Our super 10s typically carry 15–18 tons and our bottom dumps, super dumps and super tags carry up to about 20+ tons, depending on axle configuration and legal limits.
Which counties do you deliver aggregate to?
Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties. See our service areas.
